Dr Don Russell has been appointed Chairman of the Board of STC - the Trustee of the State Super schemes - for five years.
Dr Russell’s extensive experience is both deep and broad ranging from global investment strategist; Australia’s Ambassador to the US; Principal Adviser to former Prime Minister Paul Keating; and Assistant Secretary Commonwealth Treasury.
Dr Russell is currently the Global Investment Strategist at BNY Mellon Asset Management Australia.
Prior to joining Mellon, Dr Russell was Executive Director with WestLB Mellon Asset Management (Australia). Dr Russell joined WestLB in 2001. WestLB Mellon Asset Management is a global asset management company jointly owned by WestLB AG, a German bank, and Bank of New York Mellon Corporation.
Between 1997 and 2000 Dr Russell was in New York with Sanford C. Bernstein, a US money management and research company. Between 1985 and 1993 and again in 1996 he was Principal Adviser to the Hon Paul Keating both during his time as Treasurer and Prime Minister. Between 1993 and 1995 he served as Australia’s Ambassador to the US in Washington. Dr Russell also worked for the Commonwealth Treasury joining as a cadet and was at various times a consultant to the World Bank, Bankers Trust, Westpac Bank and Counsellor in the Australian delegation to the OECD in Paris.
Dr Russell has a PhD from the London School of Economics, a MEc from ANU and a BEc (Hons) from Flinders University. Dr Russell also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation (CFA).
From 1 January 2008, PSS members can make their compulsory personal contributions to PSS as salary sacrifice contributions. PSS members will receive an information pack by mail explaining how it works. The following documents are included in the pack:

As a result of a review of the administrative procedures for assessing applications, the Trustee of PSS – SAS Trustee Corporation (STC) – now requires applications to be made on a new Application Form.
The Application Form with accompanying notes and a Fact Sheet are now available on this website for applications for an increase to a hurt on duty pension.
The Form has been designed to collect all the necessary information at the one time so a decision on entitlement to an increase can be made in a timely manner. The Form and accompanying documentation were prepared by STC with the assistance of the Police Association which endorses their use.

The Superannuation Legislation Amendment Act 2006 included amendments to the SASS legislation that will enable you, from 1 April 2007, to pay your compulsory personal SASS contributions as Salary Sacrifice contributions.
