Michael Whaites
Board Member – Employee Representative
Michael Whaites, RN, Midwife, MAdEd, is the Assistant General Secretary of the NSW Nurses and Midwives’ Association (NSWNMA) and Branch Assistant Secretary of the ANMF NSW Branch.
Michael has over 30 years’ experience as an advocate for nurses, midwives and carers, including working at the global level with Public Services International. In his current role, Michael harnesses the collective power of unionism to advocate for improvements in the nursing and midwifery professions, for the lives of nurses, midwives and carers and the provision of quality health and aged care services.
Michael is a board member for the Edith Cavell Trust, New Law, Public Services International (Australia) and Unions NSW Finance and Governance Committee, and an Executive member of the ACTU and Unions NSW.
